Recently, the Philips Hue skill has not been linking with Alexa, which is causing issues with consumers. Try this workaround to link back up.
Philips Hue, my favorite lighting platform, has never really failed me in the years I have been using it. It’s always been a great system. But, not even Philips Hue is without issues at times.
Philips Hue Skill Problems in Alexa
Over the last month, the reviews on the Philips Hue skill in the Alexa app have been bombarded with negative reviews with one common problem, the skill failing to link up with the Alexa platform.
Just last night, I had to disable the skill because I was having communication issues due to a massive power outage here the night before. So, the best way to solve those problems is to unlink the skill and relink back up. Well, this did not go as planned as I was met with the “Try again later” error.
I tried everything to relink. I unlinked my bridge from my Philips account, removed old cloud accounts, forced the stop Alexa app, and cleared the cache. You name it, I tried it.
A Workaround That Fixed The Philips Hue Skill Link
By this time, I was frustrated and made contact with Philips. They advised a workaround that seems to be promising. If you are having issues with this, try the steps below, in order and see if it helps
- Delete/Uninstall the Philips Hue App
- Open Alexa and go through the link process
- Re-install the Philips Hue App (Basic setup will take place, but all your scenes will remain)
By step 2, you should most likely see the link was successful, then all you need to do is just reinstall and set up the Philips Hue app.
