Google has finally launched its Google TV Profile feature giving users the ability to add more people.

Let’s face it, Google TV is pretty awesome when it comes to UI design and tailored content based on your watching habits. However, if you have more than 1 person in your household that uses it, tailored content will suck as it is trying to give suggestions based on multiple people and what they watch.

I own several Chromecast with Google TV devices and I really like them. However, I have more than 1 in my household who also uses it, so depending on suggested content is not very reliable. Now, that goes away with the new Profiles feature. Finally…

How to enable Google TV Profile

So, do you want to start using the Google TV Profile feature? This is a server-side feature, so you will either have to restart your device or reinstall the Google TV app. I have the Chromecast with Google TV, so all I did was restart the device and was greeted with the “Introducing profiles on Google TV” screen. On this screen, you will now have the ability to add profiles. Once you do this, each profile will have the ability to set up its own watchlists, customize the interface, and FINALLY give recommendations on content based on that profile’s watch habits.

No more suggested content for me like spongebob and other chick flics. Now, I get action, horror, sci-fi, everything a MAN wants to watch.

So, if you use Google TV, start using the new Google TV profile feature now, it’s pretty cool!
